Join us to discuss Open Science, RRI and genomic medicine at ESOF in Trieste. The ORION partners will be involved in three sessions during ESOF 2020 - EuroScience Open Forum which takes place on 2-6 September in Trieste. The theme for ESOF 2020 is: “Freedom for science, science for freedom". Due to Covid-19, this year's ESOF is also open for online participation.

This year's ESOF will be a hybrid event with delegates participating either in place in Trieste or online. The ORION partners will be involved in the following sessions:

  • Genomic medicine: novel ethics and society challenges - 3 Sep 10:15-11:45, Virtual room 1
    The delivery of genomic medicine poses new ethical, societal and legal challenges. The workshop brings together leaders from research, health care, patient communities, and ethics. They will discuss with the workshop ́s participants issues surrounding the translation of genomic into medicine and public health from different views.   • Joining forces for a global 21st century Responsible Research and Innovation network - 3 Sep 14:30-16:00, Room 27A + online

    The aim of this session is to discuss the need for a global network on Responsible Research and Innovation and to take stock of European and international projects and initiatives. The interactive discussions will include specifics about how to make a global RRI network useful, sustainable and effective. For more information please see the ESOF programme.

  • EU-OSPP: Open Science from Recommendations to Practical implementation - 4 Sep 12:00-13:30, Euroscience Virtual room
    The European Open Science Policy Platform, EU-OSPP is a group of experts representing 25 stakeholder organizations across Open Science, who have been advising the EC on addressing the challenges to the implementation of Open Science in Europe. This session will summarise progress across Europe on the uptake of the recommendations made and to discuss and debate the future vision for Open Science in Europe by 2030, as proposed in the OSPP’s final report published in May 2020. For more information about this session please see the ESOF programme.
