Let’s make science open! Meet us at ESOF 2018 in Toulouse

The aim with ORION is to explore ways in which research and funding organisations in life sciences and biomedicine can open up the way they fund, organise, and practice research. We have recently conducted a study in six European countries about the public’s attitudes toward Open Science and genome editing. At ESOF 2018 we would like to have your views.

Exploring public opinion on genome editing

At the core of the ORION project is co-creation, which involves collaborating with different groups of people (public, policy, industry) to come up with new ideas to support and increase the impact of scientific research. Over the next two years the Babraham Institute, together with MDC in Germany, VA in Sweden, and CEITEC in the Czech Republic will launch a co-creation exercise on emerging technologies.

Open Call Launched for Artist Residency on Genome Editing

The State Festival in partnership with the Max-Delbrück-Centre for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association and the ORION project are bringing science and art together by launching an Open Call for an Artist Residency on the topic of Genome Editing. As part of the work of the ORION project to...

What will you choose from the ORION Co-Creation Menu?

Co-creation experiments and experiences are at the heart of the ORION project, bringing together multiple stakeholders from academia, industry, policy and citizens at all points of the research lifecycle. As an initial step the Babraham Institute ORION team looked for inspiration for their co-creation experiments from previous engagement tools and methods that have been used to bring together different actors from society.

Funding initiative: ORION Citizen Science Call

The H2020 ORION project has opened a call for grant proposals on citizen science to support research activities in life sciences and biomedicine that enable scientists and citizens to work together with the ultimate goal to generate new scientific knowledge, using collectively their expertise, skills, technology, curiosity and motivation. The...

Do you want to be involved in life science research?

We are currently in the process of calling 6000 people in Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. If you one of the chosen ones, pick up the phone and tell us your views on if and how you would like to be involved. The results of this survey will help us design future training, co-creation activities and public dialogues in the Orion Open science project.

Co-creation and creativity at the ORION Kick-Off Meeting

ORION, a new Horizon 2020 project, got off to a flying start at the first meeting of the project team in May. Thirty-two representatives from nine partner organisations, the project Advisory Board, and the EC Project Officer spent two productive and collaborative days at the headquarters of the project co-ordinator, the Centre for Genomic Regulation, in Barcelona.
