The ORION partner South Moravian Centre for International Mobility JCMM  in Czechia, has received 45 project proposals in their regional call for open science projectson local societal challenges. The call was open for masters and doctoral students from local universities in Brno. The project proposals are now open for public peer review on the Authorea platformTen of the received proposals will receive grants of €5000. 

Public reviews of the project proposals can be made until the end of February. The proposals will then be subject for expert evaluations. The publication of the 10 winning projects will be announced in mid- April. 

The competition was open to both Czech and foreign students and project proposals should focus on the life sciences, environmental, social, economic, technical and/or medical domain and the following Open Science attributes:

  1. Transparency in experimental methodology, observation and data collection
  2. Public availability and reusability of scientific data
  3. Public accessibility and transparency of scientific communication
  4. Usage of web tools to enhance scientific cooperation.

The purpose of this call for proposals is to support the usage of Open Science principles in common perception and everyday use in the research and scientific work of young students, who are then able to implement these principles into scientific and lay society.
