Let’s make science open! Meet us at ESOF 2018 in Toulouse

The aim with ORION is to explore ways in which research and funding organisations in life sciences and biomedicine can open up the way they fund, organise, and practice research. We have recently conducted a study in six European countries about the public’s attitudes toward Open Science and genome editing. At ESOF 2018 we would like to have your views.

New launch of the ORION MOOC for Open Science in the Life Sciences

“What an exciting potential future for science!” commented one of the participants in the ORION MOOC for Open Science in Life Sciences, when discussing what they had learnt from the course. The ORION MOOC course ran for six weeks from October-November 2019 and was open for anyone interested in Open Science. A new MOOC will run again in early 2020.

Opening up Research in Life Sciences and Biomedicine

How do you trigger institutional, cultural and behavioural changes in research organizations to foster open science and RRI? The ORION project is exploring these questions. In the TEAM ZBW Mediatalk interview, Dr. Michela Bertero and Dr. Luiza Bengtsson give some details on the projects goals, actions and learnings on fostering open science and responsible research and innovation (RRI).

Participate in the ORION Open Science Train-the-Trainer Online Course

Are you an Open Science advocate or enthusiast? Do you want to help others practice Open Science? The ORION Open Science Train-the-Trainer is an online course which enables its participants to deliver Open Science training in a variety of contexts. Through online seminars, meet-ups, videos, group work and more, the participants acquire skills in the theory and methods of Open Science training.

Register now for ORION MOOC for Open Science in the Life Sciences

The registration for the ORION MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) for Open Science in the Life Sciences has now opened. This brand new online course will help researchers to share their science with the world! Easily digestible modules will explore different aspects of Open Science and allow researchers in life sciences to gain a certificate in Open Science.

The future of research is open: results from pilot researchers workshop

What research future do scientists want to see? At the pilot of the ORION Open Science Training Workshop participants were asked not only to imagine that future, but also to expand on how it could become a reality. The ideas the scientists came up with mapped very closely to the tools and principles of the Open Science movement. For example, one group identified barrier-free sharing of data between scientists to speed up research.
