ORION at ESOF 2020 - Ensuring stakeholder engagement in challenging times

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, dialogue between science and society is more important than ever. This year’s EuroScience Open Forum, a hybrid of in-person and online events held 2-6 September, provided a key international platform to discuss and share experiences on issues such as communicating scientific uncertainty and maintaining public trust in science. The ORION Open Science partners contributed to three online sessions during the week discussing Open Science, RRI and genomic medicine. Did you miss the event? ORION inspiring the Czech science scene

The ORION project was presented at the national KRECon 2019 (Knowledge, Research and Education) conference on 7-8 November in Prague. The conference reflected on the recent development of Open Science in the Czech Republic and was dedicated to one of the main topics of contemporary scholarly communication, the issue of Open Access to scientific information.

ORION Open Science has ended but the journey towards open science has only just begun

Public dialogues, citizen science, game development, co-creation activities and action plans on open science. For 4.5 years, the ORION Open Science project consisting of 8 European partners has been testing different ways to involve the public and other stakeholders in the research process. The aim of the project was to investigate how research and funding organisations can "open up" the way they fund and do research.

Participate in the ORION Open Science Train-the-Trainer Online Course

Are you an Open Science advocate or enthusiast? Do you want to help others practice Open Science? The ORION Open Science Train-the-Trainer is an online course which enables its participants to deliver Open Science training in a variety of contexts. Through online seminars, meet-ups, videos, group work and more, the participants acquire skills in the theory and methods of Open Science training.

Putting Open Science into practice - ORION at PCST 2020+1

The Public Communication of Science and Technology, PCST, conferences take place every two years, bringing together practitioners, educators and researchers in the diverse and growing field of science communication. The Covid-19 pandemic and science engagement were unsurprisingly key themes addressed throughout this year's PCST conference in late May 2021. The ORION team participated in the VA Public & Science’s roundtable session on ‘Engaging the Public through Open Science – Putting theory into practice’ which showcased practical examples of methods and activities for engaging the public in the research process.

Regional Open Science projects – Public Peer review is now open

The ORION partner South Moravian Centre for International Mobility JCMM in Czechia, has received 45 project proposals in their regional call for open science projectson local societal challenges. The call was open for masters and doctoral students from local universities in Brno. The project proposals are now open for public peer review on the Authorea platform. Ten of the received proposals will receive grants of €5000.
